IN AFGHANISTAN

I am out of Delhi and away from my usual downtime shenanigans. I’m back to work on my third election in the last year. I have landed in Kabul and will be in Afghanistan for the elections until August 25th at the earliest. If any of my favorite editors need an assignment covered please give a ring to either of my Afghan numbers: +93-799-244-383(primary) or +93-787-598-436(what self respecting international photojournalist only has one) or email at me@keithbedford.com. I am checking it a few times a day.

Hey man, Stay safe over there. Say "Hi" to Chicken Street for me. Looking forward to seeing your work from KBL. -cg.

    Keith,
I got to your site through the email blast from Outdoor Photo about your web host. I was interested in seeing samples of the web sites, looked through your photos, landed on the Afghanistan page, and lo and behold, whose is the first comment I see….Chet Gordon’s. Chet and I are friends from my time in New York as a video journalist for WABC tv and he was a working photo journalist for the NYT. How karmic is this?

You’ve got some great work. One of the most interesting to me personally is the one on the 25th anniversary of Bophal. My wife and I were working together at WABC when Union Carbide killed the 8,000. We covered the news conference at their headquarters in CT. Typical Union Carbide. They frisked everyone going into the conference, wouldn’t let anyone leave without an escort, wouldn’t answer questions and of course wouldn’t accept responsibility. Eventually threw everyone off the property.

I applaud you for keeping the plight of the Bophal people alive. How soon we forget.

Keep up the good work, I wish you much success.
